Divisibility by 14

Any number is said to be divisible by 14 if that number is divisible by 2 as well as 7 (remember, 14 can be written as 2 x 7). If the number is not divisible by either of 2 or 7, then the number is not divisible by 14.

For example: Is 34566 divisible by 14?

Step 1: Ones digit of 34566 is 6, which is even.

So, 34566 is divisible by 2.

Step 2: Ones digit of 34566 is 6. So result is obtained as below:

3456 – (2 x 6) = 3444

344 – (2 x 4) = 336

33 – (2 x 6) = 21.

21 is divisible by 7.

As number 34566 is divisible by 2 and 7, both, so this number is divisible by 14.
